The European Innovation and Technology (EIT) Raw Material consortium is rolling out the concept of the Leiden-Delft-Erasmus circular industries hub throughout Europe. The institutions involved are the Ghent University (Belgium), Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT, Finland) and MEERI (Mineral and Energy Economy Research Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences). The project’s industrial partners are CoolRec (Belgium), Circularise (Netherlands), and Resourceful BVBA (Belgium), which will give the project its valuable input from practice.

The focus of the hub is is to get industry, universities, and students together to work on challenges in industrial symbiosis. For this, the Dutch universities the University of Leiden and the Delft University of Technology have set up a program for 2020 which includes:

  • A seminar on waste management in September for the industry. 

  • A seminar for students with entrepreneurial thinking as a theme.

  • Open feedback sessions on assignments of students. 

  • Discussion sessions where students and company(s) discuss industrial symbiosis questions

  • Insight sessions at the university. 

  • Assignment markets for students.
